The white cotton comes from the cotton flower that undergoes mechanical modifications. The jagged flowers are getting rid of their shell by passing through different vibration stages. Once the cotton is clean, polyester fibers are added to it following the futon flammability requirements in Canada. This cotton is naturally white and not chemically treated. The compound is distributed in layers of different sizes. We only use cotton in layers in the making of our futons. The cotton in layers is more resistant to compression and it allows to avoid any movement of the material inside the mattress.

The standard shiatsu mat is filled with four layers of fleece and is futon-stitched several times with the cover fabric. All futons have two sewn-on black synthetic straps that allow the rolled up mat to be stowed away. Generally, the standard four layers of fleece (with approx. 5 kg per square meter) are sufficient, as a mat that is too soft allows too much sinking in. For those who still need more volume, we also offer five-layer Shiatsu mats.

Our futons are made in Japan using the highest grade cotton available. They comprise of a blend using 90 % of premium quality Mexican cotton and 10% Polylactide Acid (a bioplastic made from plant materials).
